Connect Unidesk to your AI apps
Let Claude, Codex, Cursor and other AI apps read your meetings, notes and tasks, and save the changes you approve.
- Runs on your computer
- No delete tool for AI apps
- Transcripts stay off until you allow them
Needs Unidesk 1.0.18 or later · Mac · Windows
Copy and send this to Claude Code
Set up Unidesk for me so you can read my meetings, notes and tasks. 1. Check that Unidesk 1.0.18 or later is installed, open and signed in, and that in Unidesk → Settings → MCP Settings, "Allow AI apps" and "Claude Code" are on. 2. Add the Unidesk MCP server: run `claude mcp add unidesk -- "/Applications/Unidesk.app/Contents/Resources/mcp-shim/unidesk-mcp"` On Windows the helper is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Unidesk\resources\mcp-shim\unidesk-mcp.exe. Use its full path, with %LOCALAPPDATA% expanded. If the helper isn't there, ask me to click Copy setup next to Claude Code in MCP Settings and paste it to you. 3. Install the Unidesk skill: download https://unidesk.app/mcp/skill.md and save it as ~/.claude/skills/unidesk/SKILL.md. 4. Check it works: run `claude mcp list`, then search my latest meeting and tell me its title.
Manual setup
Run this in your terminal. On Windows, replace %LOCALAPPDATA% with the full folder, such as C:\Users\you\AppData\Local, or use Copy setup in Unidesk → Settings → MCP Settings.
claude mcp add unidesk -- "/Applications/Unidesk.app/Contents/Resources/mcp-shim/unidesk-mcp"
claude mcp add unidesk -- "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Unidesk\resources\mcp-shim\unidesk-mcp.exe"
Guide
Connect an AI app to Unidesk with MCP
Turn it on, connect your app, ask, and approve. Each step plays as a short demo.
Turn on
Turn on AI apps
Three switches in Unidesk decide which AI apps can connect and what they can read.
Allow AI apps
Open MCP Settings and switch on Allow AI apps.
Turn on your app
Under AI apps, switch on the app you use, such as Claude Code.
Choose about transcripts
Summaries and notes work without it. Transcripts stay off until you allow them.
- In Unidesk, click “Settings”, then click “MCP Settings”.
- Turn on “Allow AI apps”.
- Unidesk needs to stay open and signed in while AI apps use it.
- Under “AI apps”, find your app, such as “Claude Code” or “Cursor”.
- Turn on the switch next to it.
- Apps you leave off are refused, and “Last used” shows when each app last connected.
- To let AI apps read full transcripts, turn on “Allow transcripts”.
- Leave it off to share just summaries and notes.
- You can change this at any time, and the next request follows it.
Connect
Connect your AI app
Paste one prompt. Your AI app adds Unidesk, installs the skill and checks the connection.
Paste the prompt
Copy the prompt for your app from this page and paste it into the app.
It adds the Unidesk server
The app runs one command or adds a few lines to its settings.
It checks the connection
The app lists its MCP servers and runs a test search of your meetings.
- On this page, pick your AI app and click “Copy”.
- Paste the prompt into your AI app's chat and send it.
- Claude Code runs “claude mcp add unidesk” with the Unidesk helper's path.
- Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, VS Code and Kiro add a short entry to their MCP settings.
- It saves the Unidesk skill to the app's skills folder.
- Claude Code runs “claude mcp list” and shows “unidesk” as connected.
- The app searches your latest meeting and tells you its title.
- If it can't connect, open Unidesk → Settings → MCP Settings and click “Copy setup”.
Ask
Ask about your meetings
Ask in your own words. The AI app searches Unidesk, reads what it needs and answers.
Ask a question
For example: what did we decide in Monday's standup?
It searches Unidesk
The app calls search, then reads the meeting it found.
You get the answer
It answers from your summary and notes. Open the meeting in Unidesk to check it.
- In your AI app, ask about a meeting, a note or your tasks.
- Name a person, a project or a day to help it find the right meeting.
- The app calls “search” with a few key words.
- It opens the meeting that fits with “get_meeting”, which gives the summary and your notes.
- It can read the transcript once you turn on “Allow transcripts”.
- The app answers from your meeting summary and notes.
- To check the answer, open that meeting in Unidesk.
Approve
Approve changes, stay in control
Changes wait for your yes unless you trust an app, and you can stop every AI app at once.
Approve each change
When an AI app wants to save something, you see it first and choose.
Check MCP Logs
See which app asked for what, and when. Your content is never logged.
Pause all at once
One switch refuses every AI app, without changing anything else.
- When the app wants to add a task or save a note, it asks you first.
- Read the change, then click “Accept” or “Decline”.
- A declined change is not retried, and an unanswered one is refused after 2 minutes.
- In Settings, click “MCP Logs”, under MCP Settings.
- Each row shows the time, the app, what it asked for and the result. Requests that change your data are highlighted.
- Search by app, request, item or date, or filter by app or result.
- The log keeps the last 200 requests and never stores what your meetings or notes say.
- Turn on “Pause all AI access” to refuse every AI app straight away.
- Leave “Always allow changes” off unless you review that app's work.
- Turn the pause off again to carry on where you left off.
Safety
Built-in guardrails
You decide which apps connect and what they change. Limits apply even to apps you trust.
You approve changes
You choose Accept or Decline before anything is saved, unless you turn on Always allow for that app.
No delete through Unidesk
Unidesk gives AI apps no delete tool. You remove things yourself, in Unidesk.
Nothing goes through our servers
Unidesk hands items straight to the AI app you connected, on your computer.
You decide
Allow each app
A new AI app is asked about once. Say no and it is never asked again.
Always allow is per app
Skip the question for one app you trust. Every other app still asks.
Pause all at once
One switch refuses every AI app, without changing anything else.
Your data
Private connection
A local socket or pipe with a secret key, never a network port.
Transcripts off by default
AI apps read summaries and notes. Transcripts need your OK.
MCP Logs, no content
See the time, app, request and result, and search or filter them. Your words are never logged.
Built-in limits
Hidden instructions flagged
Meeting text is marked untrusted, and AI apps are told not to follow commands in it.
Rate limits per app
Up to 120 reads a minute, 60 transcript pages and 30 changes an hour.
No retries, no doubles
Unanswered changes are refused after 2 minutes, and nothing saves twice.
Good habits
- Connect AI apps you trust, and turn off the ones you stop using.
- Leave Always allow changes off unless you review that app's work.
- Check MCP Logs now and then.
- Turn on Pause all AI access before you share your screen or lend your computer.

FAQ
Questions about MCP
Straight answers on setup, privacy and control.
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI apps use tools from other apps. Unidesk's MCP server lets an AI app you choose search and read your meetings, notes and tasks, and save changes you approve.
Which AI apps work with Unidesk?
Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, VS Code and Kiro have ready-made setup in Unidesk. Any other app that supports MCP servers can use the same settings.
How do I connect Claude Code to my meeting notes?
Turn on Allow AI apps and Claude Code in Unidesk → Settings → MCP Settings, then copy the Claude Code prompt on this page and paste it into Claude Code. It adds the Unidesk server and the Unidesk skill, then runs a test search.
Does it work on Windows?
Yes. MCP works in Unidesk for Mac and Windows 1.0.18 or later.
Is MCP included in the Free plan?
Yes. MCP is included in every plan, including Free, and uses no cloud hours, because the connected AI app does its own thinking.
Does my meeting data leave my computer?
Unidesk passes items to the AI app you connected and no one else, over a private connection on your computer, and never through Unidesk servers. That AI app may send what it reads to its own AI service, under its own terms.
Can it read my transcripts?
Not unless you turn on Allow transcripts, which is off by default; summaries and notes are available without it.
Can an AI app delete my notes?
Not through Unidesk: it gives AI apps no delete tool. To delete something, open Notes, Tasks, Whiteboards or Projects in Unidesk, select it and choose Delete.
How do I see what an AI app did?
Open Settings → MCP Logs in Unidesk. It lists the last 200 requests, newest first, with the time, the app, what it asked for and the result. Search, or filter by app or result; requests that change your data are highlighted. The log never stores what your meetings or notes say.
How do I stop all AI access?
Turn on Pause all AI access in Settings → MCP Settings. Every AI app is refused at once, and nothing else changes.
What stops an AI app from following instructions hidden in a meeting?
Unidesk marks meeting text, notes and diagrams as untrusted data and tells the AI app never to follow instructions inside them. Changes still need your approval, unless you turn on Always allow changes for that app.
